The Issues

As your county commissioner, I will work tirelessly to represent the interests of our citizens and to ensure that Waller County remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

Liberty

A core tenant of conservatism is personal responsibility and individual liberty. I believe government works best when it pursues the narrow paths laid out in our national and state constitutions. At the county level, this means quality roads, equal justice within our court system, well-trained sheriffs, firefighters and emergency responders, and other basic services. Yet today, we often see government at all levels significantly overreaching into every facet of people’s lives. This is contrary to our American values, and I will not support policies that infringe upon a person’s life, liberty, or their pursuit of happiness.

Fiscal Conservancy and Transparency

When it comes to taxes and county budgets, elected officials should remember those are public funds belonging to the people. Mismanagement of tax dollars, clouded decisions on major expenditures, and poor planning all contribute to waste and mistrust. I believe in transparency and good stewardship of your tax dollars. Any expense the county makes should be seen as an investment for the public. Additionally, expenses should be done with public input. I will work to reduce our tax rate to account for increases in total property values throughout the county.

Infrastructure

The core mission of a commissioner is to oversee county infrastructure. Waller County’s marked growth in recent years provides many opportunities for its residents. Unfortunately, our investments in infrastructure have not kept pace with this growth. Soon, lacking roads and inadequate services could result in a significant drag on this growth. Flooding and emergency management complications are real dangers that need to be addressed proactively. With a background in construction, power generation, safety systems, water infrastructure, and transportation I will work diligently to ensure Waller County is investing in the systems we need to manage our growth and rise to the challenges of the coming decades.

Public Safety

Waller County is growing and with each new neighborhood or new business comes more issues our first responders must address. I want to work with our sheriff and constables, fire marshal, emergency managers, district attorneys, judges, 911 coordinators, and citizens of the county to ensure Waller County is a safe place to live, raise a family, send children to school, and do business. I will do all I can to promote public safety in our communities whether that be from lawbreakers or natural disasters.

Growth

Texas is adding nearly 2,000 new residents per day. Hundreds of companies have relocated to Texas or have opened new facilities, including here in Waller County, in the last five years alone. Freight volume in Texas is expected to double by 2050. Texas’ explosive growth presents opportunities and challenges and addressing these issues begins at home. As one of the fastest growing counties in America with thousands of new residents and hundreds of new commercial enterprises opening in recent years, the key issue in Waller County is management. As your county commissioner, I will seek to manage our growth across the precinct. To me, this means protecting the rights of existing residents and businesses while welcoming our newest arrivals. This means investing in our infrastructure to ensure growth, protect our residents and their businesses, and reduce congestion and flood concerns.
