We continue our series of posts on just what a county commissioner is and does. Here are 2 more things that I feel are important for your county commissioner to be involved in.
Budget Oversight: County Commissioners have the responsibility to approve and oversee the county budget. This includes reviewing and approving departmental budgets, making decisions on funding priorities, and in my opinion ensuring that the county’s financial resources are allocated appropriately and transparently. County Commissioners also monitor the county’s financial health and make strategic decisions to ensure the county’s fiscal sustainability.
Representation of Constituents: County Commissioners are elected to represent the interests of their constituents. They attend public meetings, engage with the community, and listen to the concerns and feedback of residents. County Commissioners act as a voice for their constituents, advocating for their needs and interests in county government decisions. One of the reasons I am running for this position is I believe new growth and developments across the area have not been adequately represented before the court. I want to leverage my past experiences and be your representative whether you live on a family farm near Monaville, are a student at Prairie View, or just moved into a new house in Katy.
